Limit Results to Show

The Limit Results to Show setting is used to limit the number of results to show on a chart.  In the example below, we are creating a pie chart to represent Users by Location.  This setting will allow you to display all or a specific number of Locations on the chart.

From the Charts tab, you can create charts and limit results to show.  To create:

  1. Click the New Chart button to bring up the New Chart wizard
  2. Enter the properties of the new chart

    1. Name – Users by Location
    2. Source Type – Asset Type
    3. Source Table – Asset Type: User
    4. Description – This field was left blank
    5. Chart Type – Pie
    6. Heading Color – Green
    7. Chart Span – Half Width
    8. Chart Position – After: Computers by Type
    9. Results to Show – Custom (5)
    10. Show Zero Values – NO. This will omit all zero values from the chart legend.
    11. Show by Default – YES
    12. Enabled – YES
  3. Select the data columns and filters of the new chart

    1. Data Column – Migration Status
      1. Filter – None selected. This will display all Location values on the chart.
      2. Label – The label was left blank. The field is ignored unless one or more filter values are selected.
      3. Color – Black. The field is ignored unless one or more filter values is selected.
    2. Secondary Filter – Not applicable for this example
  4. Click the Preview Chart button to preview the chart before saving. Click the Close button to exit the chart preview.
  5. Click the Create Chart button when finished to create the chart. You will be redirected back to the Charts tab. Click the Cancel button to cancel the operation.
  6. The Users by Location pie chart with Results to Show set to CUSTOM (5) is shown below. The top five Locations are displayed on the chart.
  7. The Users by Location pie chart with Results to Show set to ALL is shown below. All Locations are displayed on the chart.
