Edit Action Button

From the Action Buttons page, you can edit action buttons. To edit:

  1. Select an action button (row) to edit
  2. Click the Edit Action Button button on the toolbar

    1. The edit button is grayed out unless an action button (row) is selected

    2. The edit function is only available to users in the Administrator security group
  3. Edit the front-end (HTML) code of the action button in the Front-End (HTML) tab
  4. Edit the front-end (JS) code of the action button in the Front-End (JS) tab
  5. Edit the backend (PHP) code of the action button in the Backend (PHP) tab
  6. Use the editing buttons to format the button code
    1. Undo – Undo the last edit
    2. Redo – Redo the last edit that was undone
    3. Block Outdent – Remove an indent from a line or block
    4. Block Indent – Set a line or block in from the margin
    5. Comment – Comment out a line
    6. Comment Block – Comment out a block
    7. Templates – Load example HTML, JS or PHP code from common templates
    8. Clear – Clear the window
    9. Duplicate Selection – Duplicate the selection
  7. Click the  button to run the code and preview the button in the Button Preview window before saving

    1. Use the  menu to manage the button preview
         

      1. Move to Bottom – Move the Button Preview window to the bottom of the page below the Button Code window
      2. Move to Right – Move the Button Preview window to the right of the Button Code window
      3. Get Datatable Snapshot – Enter a query to load data into the Button Preview window

        1. Use the editing buttons to format the query
          1. Undo – Undo the last edit
          2. Redo – Redo the last edit that was undone
          3. Block Outdent – Remove an indent from a line or block
          4. Block Indent – Set a line or block in from the margin
          5. Comment – Comment out a line or block
        2. Use the  menu to select data to a query into the window
        3. Click the  button to clear the query
        4. Click the Update button to save your changes and refresh the Button Preview window. Click the Close button to cancel the operation.
  8. Click the  button to save the action button
  9. Click the  button to choose if the action button supports selection of single or multiple datatable rows
  10. Click the  button to bring up the Button Properties dialog
    1. Configure the button properties and then click the Update button. Click the Close button to cancel the operation.

      1. Name – Name of the action button (required)
      2. Status – Choose if the action button is enabled (required)
      3. Apply to Reports – Select reports to apply the action button to
        NOTE: Action buttons can also be assigned to reports in the Report Builder.
      4. Apply to Data Types – Select data types to apply the action button to
  11. Click the  button to expand the button code to full window mode. Click the  button to exit full window mode.
  12. Click the  button to choose the theme
  13. Click the  button to choose from typical action button examples

Button Code

From the Edit Action Button page, you can edit the button code. To edit the button code:

  1. Edit the front-end (HTML) code of the new action button in the Front-End (HTML) tab
  2. Edit the front-end (JS) code of the new action button in the Front-End (JS) tab
  3. Edit the backend (PHP) code of the new action button in the Backend (PHP) tab
  4. Use the editing buttons to format the button code
    1. Undo – Undo the last edit
    2. Redo – Redo the last edit that was undone
    3. Block Outdent – Remove an indent from a line or block
    4. Block Indent – Set a line or block in from the margin
    5. Comment – Comment out a line

  9. Click the  button to expand the button code to full window mode. Click the  button to exit full window mode.
  10. Click the  button to choose the theme
  11. Click the  button to choose from typical action button examples

Button Preview

From the Edit Action Button page, you can preview the button code. To preview the button code:

  1. Click the  button to run the code and preview the button in the Button Preview window before saving
  2. Use the  menu to manage the button preview
       

    1. Move to Bottom – Move the Button Preview window to the bottom of the page below the Button Code window
    2. Move to Right – Move the Button Preview window to the right of the Button Code window
    3. Get Datatable Snapshot – Enter a query to load data into the Button Preview window

      4. Click the Update button to save your changes and refresh the Button Preview window. Click the Close button to cancel the operation.

Button Properties

From the Edit Action Button page, you can configure the button properties. To configure the button properties:

  1. Click the  button to bring up the Button Properties dialog
  2. Configure the button properties and then click the Update button. Click the Close button to cancel the operation.

    1. Name – Name of the action button (required)
    2. Status – Choose if the action button is enabled (required)
    3. Apply to Reports – Select reports to apply the action button to
      NOTE: Action buttons can also be assigned to reports in the Report Builder.
    4. Apply to Data Types – Select data types to apply the action button to

Get Datatable Snapshot

From the Edit Action Button page, you can enter a query to load data into the Button Preview window. To enter a query:

  1. From the menu, select Get Datatable Snapshot to bring up the Get Datatable Snapshot dialog
       
  2. Enter a query to load data into the Button Preview window
  3. Use the editing buttons to format the query
    1. Undo – Undo the last edit
    2. Redo – Redo the last edit that was undone
    3. Block Outdent – Remove an indent from a line or block
    4. Block Indent – Set a line or block in from the margin
    5. Comment – Comment out a line or block
  4. Use the  menu to select data to a query into the window
  5. Click the  button to clear the query
  6. Click the Update button to save your changes and refresh the Button Preview window. Click the Close button to cancel the operation.
