MigrationReady
MigrationReady is under development. This page describes the solution as currently planned. Capabilities and timing may change before release, and nothing here should be treated as a commitment.
Every large migration starts with a business case, and most business cases are built on estimates. Discovery and assessment tooling is widely available, much of it supplied free by the platform the migration would move to, and it answers the vendor’s question rather than yours: what this estate would look like on that platform. The baseline it compares against is usually an industry benchmark rather than what the estate actually costs today.
MigrationReady is intended to productize the migration business case: the true current cost of running the estate, the real cost of the target, and the execution path between them, on the same data fabric and orchestration engine that carry the migration itself.
The Challenge
Migration decisions are made with incomplete cost information on both sides of the comparison. Current-state cost is spread across procurement, finance, licensing, support contracts, facilities, and labor, and no single system holds it. Target-state cost is modeled from list pricing and generic benchmarks rather than from the terms your organization actually holds.
A first-party assessment tool cannot resolve this, because a platform assessing a move to itself is a party to the decision. The result is a business case that survives until the invoices arrive, and programs that are approved on numbers nobody can defend afterward.
Planned Capabilities
| Actual-Cost Baseline | Current-state cost assembled from your own procurement, finance, licensing, support, and infrastructure data rather than from industry benchmarks. |
| Real Target Pricing | Target-state cost modeled against the pricing and terms your organization actually holds. |
| Assessment Ingestion | Output from existing discovery and assessment tools ingested as one input among several, rather than treated as the answer. |
| Application Context | Dependencies, usage, compatibility, and lifecycle stage attached to the estate being modeled, so the case reflects what a move would actually involve. |
| Execution Bridge | The approved case carries directly into wave planning and execution on the same platform, with no re-gathering of the data the case was built on. |
| Neutral Recommendation | Staying, partially moving, and moving are modeled on the same basis, with no commercial interest in the outcome. |
Why Neutrality Matters Here
ReadyWorks earns nothing from where your workloads run. The analysis can therefore conclude that a migration is not worth doing, which is what makes the recommendation to proceed worth acting on. An assessment supplied by the destination platform cannot reach that conclusion credibly.
How It Fits
MigrationReady is intended to sit in front of the migration programs ReadyWorks already runs. VirtualReady covers the virtual estate and platform exits, EndpointReady covers endpoint refresh and OS migration waves, and ServerReady covers server lifecycle and consolidation. MigrationReady is planned as the business case layer that precedes them, on the same data fabric, application context layer, and ReadyAI control plane, so the analysis that justifies a program becomes the data that runs it.
